Much of the leaf litter peppering the sidewalks of Seattle can easily be mistaken for slugs, especially during late summer and early Autumn. Most people just walk or jog on by never giving a second thought to the crunching or squishing which generally accompanies any peripatetic recreation of the pacific northwest. For me, however, there is nothing more perturbing then finding a squished slug in the tred of my ADIDAS. Not only because the slime is a pain and a half to remove, but because I hate the though of ruining a radula. Its the latter part of this reaction, and the passion accompanied with it, that usually precipitates the strangest looks from friends and acquaintances. It is this subject that is the inspiration for this blog.
RaduLove at its core is love of anything with a radula, the drill like tongue on all molluscs other than bivalves. As members of the mollusca phylum, they are cousins of the cephalopos (octopuses, squids and cuttle fish) and Bivalves (clams, oysters and the like) as well as many other taxa. In a greater sense RaduLove in interest in the nerdy side of biology and science as a whole.
This blog is intended to share that love both of slugs but also all the facets of nerdy in my life from chemistry to conchs and technology to tectonics.
